Shop Superintendent

 

Position Overview

The Shop Superintendent is primarily responsible for directing and continually improving the department’s daily operations. Responsibilities include training employees, providing work direction and participating in day to day operations to ensure employee morale, safety, quality and productivity standards are met. Working in conjunction with Product Development, Engineering, Customer Service, Human Resources, and the Materials department the Shop Superintendent also plans, organizes, staffs and implements plans to accomplish company goals and meet customer requirements utilizing best available manufacturing practices at the lowest cost.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides leadership that demonstrates the need for team work to attain department objectives.
  • Conducts regular communication meetings to keep employees informed and to identify and implement continuous initiatives.
  • Review daily production schedule to plan work and personal assignments for the shift to effectively utilize employees, equipment and facility. Communicates personnel assignments, rotate employees and realigns as needed.
  • Interact with other supervisors, leads, and managers to assure production coordination. Ensures maximum efficiency and productivity of all staff, including sharing resources. Supervises and directs personnel in department on performing operations according to sound operating principles and company policies and procedures.
  • Anticipates, utilizes data and determines causes of delays in department operations and takes appropriate action to meet deadlines. Communicates with management as necessary about potential concerns.
  • Understand procedures and processes for their department and assures that department personnel are trained.
  • Make adjustments to machines, tools and conduct minor maintenance on machines and tools in accordance to maintenance schedule and specifications.
  • Interview and select potential employees, conducts performance reviews and disciplinary actions on a timely basis.
  • Demonstrates leadership. Leading by example with integrity.
  • Assess the performance and discipline and rewards employees in accordance with Company policies.
  • Responsible for assuring employees have the material, supplies, components, tools and follow procedures necessary to efficiently perform their duties.
  • Communicates and support company goals and objectives
  • Assures all employees adhere to all safety rules and policies and conduct work related injury investigation.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork and documentation neatly and accurately.
  • Responsible for department quality and takes corrective action as needed to ensure quality is met.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts and draws valid conclusions and implements resolutions.
  • Remove production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals.
  • Coordinates with the sales/customer delivery requirements to set the daily production schedule including duty assignments, and reassignment as needed.
  • Involved in the pre-production (planning) stage, as well as, the production (control and supervision) stage.
  • Enforce company process standards, procedures and company policies on the shop floor including PPE use, proper part handling, sound equipment set-ups, daily equipment PM and 5S.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • Job Knowledge - Understand duties, responsibilities and has ability to use materials as needs with the level of proficiency required to accomplish the work.
  • Initiative - Ability to be self-directed, efficient, creative and resourceful. Assumes extra work and adapts quickly to new responsibilities.
  • Quantity and Quality of Work - Amount of work completed in work week with accuracy and care for customer.
  • Problem Solving/Decision Making - Extent to which the employee can assess a problem and offer solutions for resolution.

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 8 (eight) years of directly related experience in managing manufacturing operations and scheduling.
  • Proven ability to safely operation a forklift (must be certified)
  • Prior experience with material handling and inventory control in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to mentor and motivate manufacturing personnel to meet corporate goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in adjusting quickly and reacting to unexpected conditions.
  • Provides innovative thought process and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in communicating optimization efforts with production team.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • Ability and willingness to perform/comply with following:
    • Willing and able to work outside in manufacturing/warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
  • Willing to work alone a high percentage of the time.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Willing to work in a manufacturing environment with dust, fumes, oils and where noise levels can be high.

ASME Code Welder

Broken Arrow ASME pressure vessel manufacturer seeking an FT welder. Experience welding ASME pressure vessels with Mig and Flux core is a plus. Tig and sub-arc are a plus. Must pass a 3g test. Day shift 6- 4:00 PM -Th. / F. 6- 12:00 PM Successful candidate will exhibit strong work ethic with an exemplary attendance record. Pay commensurate with experience.

Hydro-Tester

ASME pressure vessel manufacturer seeks a Full-Time Hydro Tester for our Broken Arrow facility. Experience in a hydro test or similar shop environment is a plus, but we will train. Candidates must exhibit exemplary attendance records and a strong work ethic. Employer offers medical, life, AD/D, LTD, Paid Time Off, and 401k. Mon-Thurs 6-4, Fridays 6-Noon. Immediate opening.
